Guess what Wereeeeeeeeee back and will try to get this update done evey Sunday or Monday. We have now gotten 4 weeks of practice and 1 meet under our belts. The attendance at practice has been very impressive so far, especially by those of you involved in other fall sports. Let's keeep up the good work !
GOALS; I will be passing out goal sheets this week starting on Thursday, so it is time to think about what you want to get out of this season. Please be realistic when setting these goals, remember it's a new season and things change.Whereever your destination is for this season a little planning will need to be done first. You have already begun this
journey by attending the first few weeks of practice. Hopefully you have thought about plotting your course on a
map because if not you will probably get lost like some of OUR cross country runners ! Every athlete in every sport has goals whether it is to do well, win the event, best time in event, get in shape, make it through a hard practice but the first step is that YOU have to know where you are headed. Let's start thinking about it now!!
Don't forget about our team camp out that will be held on Saturday October 24. I hear there will be a special guest attending!MEET WRAP UP: We had our first meet of the season this past weekend and I was very impressed with how all of you swam your races. Some of you in the Senior prep group let's not forget that a lot of your best times were posted during championships last season when you were in the best shape and you were rested. As we age it takes longer to get back to that point, it's not like age group swimming when you were dropping time all the time. The things I need YOU to work on in practice are the little things such as OUR underwater swimming off the walls which we will be doing a lot of this week, breathing patterns, breakout strokes and pushing past OUR comfort zone. Let's take this back to the pool and focus on improving in these areas.
Did you know that as swimmers who are surrounded by water we tend to forget to DRINK water. As a swimmer you should always have that water bottle next to you at practice and at meets so that you are able to hydrate yourself!! a GOOD GUIDE IS ABOUT 12 OUNCES EVERY 20 MINUTES, SO THOSE BOTTLES SHOULD BE EMPTY AT THE END OF PRACTICE.
Think about this I go through at least a bottle every practice and most of the time I go through 2 and I am not even in there swimming with you rascals. A lot of times when you start feeling bad as you go through a practice it usually starts with not drinking enough water. YOU SHOULD ALWAYS DRINK BEFORE YOU BECOME THIRSTY ! IF YOU WAY UNTIL YOU FEEL THIRSTY THAN YOU'VE WAITED TOO LONG
