Mike Cook, Head Age Group Coach
Mike Cook enters his 5th season as a Makos Coach, and his 25th year coaching in Potomac Valley. He has spent these years at the age group level, which he believes is the most critical time in a swimmers life. He believes this is where proper techniques and good habits are formed for success at a later time. For 12 of those years Mike was responsible for developing the 8 and under program for York Swim Club. Mike has spent 28 years coaching in the Northern Virginia Swim League, and has called Lee Graham home for the last 24 years. He holds certification with the American Swim Coaches Association, and is certified through the American Red Cross as an instructor in First Aid, CPR, Lifeguarding, Water Safety, and AED. Mike is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
