30/40 Anyone know what these numbers mean?
WEEK AHEAD: All practices this week will be held at normal times. Remember that next week there will be no practice Tues. thru Saturday due to the college Championship meet. I will have a few practices posted for you to do. I encourage you to come in on Tuesday morning and than try to get in Theresa or Friday.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Since today is president's day we will use a quote by
"I do the very best I know how --- the very best I can, and I mean to keep on doing so until the end,"
"I do the very best I know how --- the very best I can, and I mean to keep on doing so until the end,"MEETS AHEAD: The last 2 meets for the short course season are now on-line. These are our CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS where WE will be ready to swim fast. The JO meet has times which you must have qualified for. This meet will also have relays in it, and if you are chosen for a relay WE expect you there. We will have them posted next week so that if there are conflicts you can let us know so that we can make the proper adjustments. The other meet is the Mako Invitational champ meet which will be held at George Mason.
QUALIFIER MEET WRAP: This past weekend we attended the meet at Cub Run and the swimmers from our groups were
. A special
high five for the following swimmers who achieved their JO cuts; Meg Robertson 100 free, 100 and 200 IM, Megan Hickey 200 free, 50 back, Melissa Kratzke 50 breast, Leah Rogers 200 breast, Conor McGrath 100 IM, Will Palfey 100 fly, and Rachel Anderson 100 back. Over all as a group we had 104 splashes and swam to 72 personal best times. a lot of the other 32 splashes were right on their best times. The following swimmers all had 100% best times; Julie Chung, Alison Spaziani, Katie Byrd, Hannah Warnick, Logan Ross, Meg Robertson, Megan Hickey, Leah Rogers, Melissa Krazke, Sandy Kendall, Conor McGrath, Will Palfey, Tyler Breise, Shannon O'Donell, Lauren Yi, Brooke Woorley. Great Job!!
. A special Every day at practice a few of the same swimmers will ask me the same question. Is it going to be hard today? I don't mind telling you that my first thought is to
and
because a lot of times it's the same people who get upset when they don't swim well. Each and every time you get into the pool, be it practice or a meet that BEAST will be waiting for you. It may arrive in many different masks, but make no mistake he will be there!
and This
will never go away and you will have to BEAT him every time you step up on the blocks! This won't happen until you look him right in the
's and go after him and don't back away from him. Don't let this beast fool you by the look on his
that he knows your number. it's all a hoax, he is a paper dragon.
Blow right through your beast because once you do you will see the
on the other side and get what runners call their "second wind," and in that you will find an awesome feeling that is unique to all athletes. A feeling of being in a place where there is no real pain and just a feeling that you are having a GREAT RACE, what some may call being in "THE ZONE" Right now I want you to close your eyes and visualize yourself winning the race, not thinking of I have to get a certain time or my best time (the beast is winning the struggle if these are your thoughts), and once you can visualize all the positive thoughts you can call the
bluff and SLAY him. But make no mistake he will always be there but it will get easier to fight him, so much so it becomes a habit, a way of life. If you don't deal with this guy at practice when he raises his ugly head in a race the odds are that he will win the fight. When you can slay this
that is when you truly reach the level of a CHAMPION.
