30/40
WEEK AHEAD: All practices this week will be as normal. Remember that next week there will be no practice Tuesday thru Saturday due to the college championship meet being held at George Mason. I will have a few practices posted here next weekend for you to do. All Championship swimmers should plan on attending Monday's practice and than getting in to a pool 2 other days next week.
QUESTION: Any of you know what the two numbers above are for?
QUOTE OF THE WEEK: Since today is president's day we will use a quote by Lincoln.
"I do the very best I know how --- the very best I can, and I mean to keep on doing so until the end."
MEETS AHEAD: The last 2 meets for the short course season are now on-line. These are OUR CHAMPIONSHIP MEETS WHERE WE WILL BE READY TO SWIM OUR FASTEST! The JO MEET HAS QUALIFYING TIMES THAT YOU MUST HAVE. This meet will have relays in it and we will be entering as many relays as we qualify for. This week I will be getting the top times report and will be setting up the relays. We should have them posted by next week, and will need a confirmation from you ASAP. The other championship meet is the MAKO INVITATIONAL that will be at George Mason. If you have a full load of events at JO, you should not be entering this meet.
QUALIFIER MEET WRAP: This past weekend we attended the meet at Cub Run and the swimmers from our groups were awesome. A special
shout out to the following swimmers who made JO cut's: Meg Robertson 100 free, 100 and 200 IM, Megan Hickey 200 free, 50 back, Melissa Kratzke 50 breast, Leah Rogers 200 breast, Conor McGrath 100 IM, and Rachel Anderson 100 back.
Over all as a group we had 72 personal best out of 104
splashes. A lot of those other 32 swims were right on their best times. The following swimmers all had 100% best times: Julie Chung, Alison Spaziani, Katie Byrd, Hannah Warnick, Logan Ross, Meg Robertson, Megan Hickey, Leah Rogers Melissa Kratzke, Sandy Kendall, Conor McGrath, Will Palfey, Tyler Breise, Shannon O'Donell, Lauren Yi, Brooke Woorley. Great job!!
Every day at practice a few of the same swimmers will ask me the same question. Is it going to be hard today? I don't mind telling you that when I hear that my first thought is to
because a lot of times it the same people who get upset when they don't swim well. Each and every time you get into the pool be it practice or at a meet that Monster will be waiting for you. There is no way around
him, he is always there waiting for you, waiting for you to show a weakness, be it mental or physical, and than he will make his move. You have to look him right in the
's and go after him and don't back away from him. Don't let this monster fool you by the look on his
that he knows your number. It's all a hoax, he is a paper dragon. Blow right through guy because once you do you will see the
and will get what runners call their second wind, and in that you will find an awesome feeling that is unique to all athletes. It's a feeling where you are in a place where there is no pain and just a felling that you are having a great race, what some may call "THE ZONE." This
monster will not go away but the more you call his bluff and SLAY him the easier it will get, until it becomes a habit, a way of life. If you don't deal with this guy at practice when he raises his ugly head in a race the odds are that he will win the battle. When you can slay this
that is when you will truly reach the level of a CHAMPION.
